“I know I’m a success... but feel like a failure.”

“I know I’m a success... but feel like a failure.”

If I had a dollar for every time I felt like this, I would definitely live in a nicer house and probably eat scones regularly (it’s a fancy food and we all can dream).

Have you said to yourself recently “I am a success”? If not, I think you should take a moment to do so. I hope it feels good to hear yourself say that.

Hang with me here because I promise this isn’t some hokey self help blog.

The phrase “I am a success” is subtly doing three things. It first is describing you with the word “I”, secondly expressing a present reality with “am” and lastly a positive self descriptor with “success”. This phrase isn’t saying you will be successful; it is expressing you as you are right now. Meaning you don’t have to achieve it.

Now, if you’re like me and have recently gone through hardship or made a huge mistake please comment below so I don’t feel alone, haha. But seriously, tension comes when we go through something that makes us question the love and value God has placed on us (John 3:16).

Here’s the twist, only God can take the tension away. In the Bible, it says we should pray like this “Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed by thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth (Matt. 6:9-10 ASV). Did you catch the last part? Gods will be done? Did you know, Gods will is to work all of our problems out for good?! Romans 8:28. Gods prayer isn’t for us to stop having problems. His prayer and will is to work them out for good! And maybe you are working several jobs and can’t make ends meet, or have a hard time keeping relationships. Or maybe you’re just feeling down. Those are Gods problems as much as they are yours. And he’s working on them. And do you know that none of those issues change the fact that you are a success right now. God loves you and is working on all of those things for good! So please let the God upstairs work! Even if it’s at the expense of our feelings! It’s certainly one way to be humble yourself, by letting God help. - God I feel like a failure but you love me and your love makes me a success.
